A slightly off-the-wall Australian-based cook/businessman has recently invented the “Donug”, bringing together two of the world’s favourite fried delights, the chicken nugget and the donut. It looks – you guessed it – like a round chicken nugget with a hole in the middle. The result is crispy on the outside, with a deep fried crust made of crushed cornflakes and panko, and tender on the inside, a hybrid treat for the taste buds. The Donug offers some very unique flavours and comes topped with a choice of three sauces, or can be enjoyed plain. This novelty is already becoming a darling of the Web, with its own dedicated Internet site and a LoveADonug Instagram account!

Hybrids are all the rage in gastronomy these days: for example, KFC is currently testing chicken and waffles in two North Carolina cities and in Vancouver, Canada, on one entrepreneur has begun selling Hot Dog-flavoured water for $38 a bottle!
