This year, the harvest of PGI Sables des Landes asparagus and PGI Perigord strawberries was successful due to good weather conditions. But unfortunately, in this time of containment, farmers are facing a difficult situation to sell their products.
Indeed, the measures taken by the government, as the closure of restaurants and the ban on local markets respectively since March 15th and 24th, have drastically reduced the sales and production of these products.
In this context, SOPEXA has adapted the campaign “Europe signs the products of its terroirs”. Since March 30th, the international agency has been appealing for the solidarity of citizens to buy these fruits and vegetables harvested by producers in our regions, especially as these products have European quality labels. The campaign is accompanied by examples of gourmet recipes that are easy to reproduce at home.
Since the launch of the operation, these products have been given good visibility in several media and eight releases are imminent. Starting this week, a spot will also be broadcast on two radio stations. Four brands have already made a commitment to the FNSEA (National Federation of Farmers’ Unions) to support their products on their stalls.
“We are pleased to contribute to the promotion of French products, especially in this new context. Our farmers need us and we are proud to take part in this call for solidarity from our citizens”, explains Xavière Guerlay, Director of the France Sopexa Agency.
